The proposed capital project is comprised of 2 propositions:
Proposition 2 includes infrastructure repairs to several buildings
Price Tag $11 million
Proposition 3 - a multi-sport facility located at Cornwall High School
Price Tag $8.4 million
The district has chosen to spend 37% of the capital reserve fund on an athletic facility that only 21% of survey respondents indicated as a community priority.
Infrastructure repairs were a top priority of taxpayers in a district survey. Based on a buildings conditions survey, which found significant safety issues at every school building, the district chose to repair some of the issues through Proposition 2.
There are numerous infrastructure issues not covered in Proposition 2 even though the building condition reports cites unsatisfactory conditions in most buildings. The district proposes voters approve another capital reserve fund so these issues can be addressed in 5 years.
The district has chosen to prioritize the building of a multi-sport facility instead of addressing important infrastructure issues.
Unsafe conditions in the schools are secondary to
building a sports facility
using taxpayer dollars.
The district has completed environmental assessment forms indicating the multi-sport facility will have little to no impact on the surrounding environment, water supply, traffic, or area neighbors.
THIS IS BLATANTLY FALSE
This report addresses the physical condition of each facility in the district, assesses if those conditions meet the programmatic and educational needs as provided by administrators, faculty and staff, and includes recommendations for improvements.
Not all of the unsatisfactory conditions are
addressed in Proposition 2
